dc.description.abstract Autonomous system works through the Border Gateway Protocol protocol to get routing information and get global coverage. In an autonomous system there is intra-domain routing which is the responsibility of the interior border gateway protocol protocol. The challenge of using iBGP lies in having every router connected in full-mesh to be able to exchange routing information. The addition of a router node will increase the number of iBGP sessions and affect the quality of the network. To reduce the number of iBGP sessions caused by the increase in router nodes, a formula is made so that iBGP sessions are not required to be connected in full-mesh. BGP Confederation is an iBGP configuration method formulated for this. BGP Confederation works by dividing an Autonomous system into Sub Autonomous Systems so that they are no longer bound by full mesh requirements. In testing the BGP Confederation configuration method using the parameters of convergence time and Quality of Service with UDP packets the results show that the convergence time pattern increases with the increase in the number of router nodes and the number of Sub-AS. This is because the addition of router nodes and Sub-AS can increase processing overhead and consume large resources of routers in the network. In the Quality of Service results, packet loss also increases with the increase in router nodes and the number of Sub-AS. Meanwhile, other QoS parameters still have fluctuating results. This study uses ANOVA analysis to prove scientifically the effect of the independent variable on the dependent variable. The results of the analysis show the effect of the independent variable on the convergence time of 0.83% and on the Quality of Service of 0.75%.
