Reading interest and reading comprehension have their own importance and influence in improving the students’ achievement. Reading interest can affect their attitudes, behavior and also good achievement. Besides, reading comprehension is the ability that cannot be separated. In reading, the students deal with the goal which is to understand the whole message content of the text, and to understand the text itself the readers should gather the concept of comprehending first. Therefore, the researcher is intended to find out whether there is any correlation between the students’ reading interest and reading comprehension achievement in English Language Education Student batch 2019 at Lambung Mangkurat University. The correlational study was used in this study in order to find the correlation between the students’ reading interest and reading comprehension achievement. The population of this study was 87 students from A1, A2, and A3 of Basic Reading class. Furthermore, the researcher used a reading interest questionnaire and students’ Basic Reading score during the semester. The finding of this study was that there is a correlation between students’ reading interest and reading comprehension achievement in English Language Education Students batch 2019 at Lambung Mangkurat University. The result has shown that there is a positive and very low correlation between the reading interest and reading comprehension achievement. It means that reading comprehension achievement is not very much related to the students’ interest in reading. The achievement might be more related to the skills and strategies in reading.
