Due to the pandemic situation, it changes the classroom learning into online learning. Based on the phenomena, the researcher conducted a research about the problem in online learning. This research was conducted to determine the students’ problems such as in supporting tools, learning activity, etc. during online learning. It was conducted in SMPN 13 Banjarmasin. The subjects were 100 9th-grade students and an English teacher of SMPN 13 Banjarmasin. The researcher formulates the research problem as follows: 1) What are the 9th-grade students’ problems in online learning? 2) What is the teacher’s opinion about online learning?. The researcher used a qualitative descriptive method with a questionnaire to get the data from students and an interview with the english teacher to get supporting data. The questionnaire consists of 25 questions, and the interview consists of 10 questions. The researcher used data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion in analyzing the data. The study results revealed that there are problems in supporting tools such as several students do not have device, limited internet quota, limited internet access. Then in learning activity, several students hard to understand the material because they can not communicate face to face with the teacher and other students, limited help from students’ family and also lack of motivation. The english teacher revealed that because this is first time doing online learning, Based on the findings, it is suggested that students should pick up material from school, ask teacher or friends about material, have to motivate themself for online learning.
