In the globalization and modern era as it is today, English language skills are indirectly important for everyone to have in the context of any field including accounting. This research discusses about the need analysis in English course of the Accounting department of Lambung Mangkurat University. Therefore, this study aims to describe the need in English course of the Accounting department students.
The research used a descriptive quantitative method. The research was conducted in Lambung Mangkurat University started from February, 28th until March, 14th, 2021. The participants of this study were 43 Accounting department students batch 2019. This study used a closed-ended questionnaire and an open- ended questionnaire simultaneously which were distributed to related accounting students via google form. After getting the data, the researcher analyzed the data.
Based on the data result, the exercise and evaluation provided were in line with the accounting field. The activity that the respondents thought was suitable for them in learning English for accounting students was discussion. In terms of teaching materials/topics, respondents do not only need materials/topics about accounting but also a variety of materials/topics such as bookkeeping, economy in general, taxation, and various other materials/topics but still about economics and accounting. In term of English skill, although all English skills are important for them, reading skill is the most important one for them followed by writing in the second position, listening, and speaking in turns.
