Maximizing media is the ability to realize and express the potency of thought to support the media or the ability to combine something that already exists with something else to make it more attractive. Teachers must have skills to develop English material. In maximizing teachers can produce new ideas or something different. The problems of this study are focused on teachers’ maximizing media in developing English teaching material with lesson plans as the point to focus.
The researcher used qualitative method which used descriptive qualitative to analyze the data. The participants of this research are two English teachers who teach in this Senior High School. This research used documentation as the tools in collecting the data. In analyzing the data, the researcher did the analysis of the lesson plan by using four characterizes of maximizing media by Barret (2008).
The result shows that teachers’ maximizing media in developing English teaching material was the ability to develop English teaching materials, providing motivation for the students, and new ways of delivering the English teaching material. The teachers considered the topic of material that the students need to learn. Examples are pictures, flashcards, PowerPoint, main mapping, and other visual or audiovisual media in developing English teaching material with various topics. To foster the maximized media teacher delivered the ideas by making groups discussion in the classroom to identify and solve the problem more specifically.
